So....Syltherin House gets a pretty bad rap. As a fellow Slytherin, I must admit that some of our alum leave a bit to be desired (Professor Snape, The Malfoys, and, of course, He Who Shall Not Be Named). However, many of us use our talents and skills for more noble causes. Not all of us are cunning, but many of us are talented people who use any means to achieve our ends. Much like TSSNT does whatever it takes for as long as it takes to help survivors of trauma.
In 2007, a group of talented therapists and social workers came together to discuss the lack of services available to lower income victims of trauma. They noted that survivors, particularly complex trauma survivors, needed more than a handful of sessions to truly get to a place of healing. They recognized that in order to fully focus on recovery, the barriers of time restrictions and finances had to be removed, and just like magic, Trauma Support Services of North Texas (TSSNT) was founded!
Today TSSNT serves hundreds of adult women and men, children, and families across North Texas who have been affect by crime related traumas. We use our connections with other non-profits, law enforcement agencies, school districts, and community partners to provide a seamless access to resources. We partner and contract with experienced, trauma informed therapists across the metroplex to provide long-term services to our clients free of charge. In addition, we also provide, case management, legal advocacy, and support group services. We use any means we have at our disposal to achieve our ends which is to provide personalized, compassionate care for those affected by trauma. Much like Slytherin House, we do whatever it takes for as long as it takes!
